What is a protein? Describe the monomers and polymers of protein? What are the functions of proteins? What atoms make up proteins?
Proteins are large molecules, consisting of one or many chains of amino acid residues. Monomers: amino acids Polymers: polypeptides functions of proteins - the oxygen-carrying pigment hemoglobin is a protein, they are importent components of cell membranes, control chemical reactions, source of energy. Chemicals, carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen and hydrogen atoms make up proteins.
